A320 Ditched By Sully Likely To Land At NC Museum

Carolinas Aviation Museum Close To Finalizing A Deal

It's currently sitting in New Jersey, partially disassembled, but the A320 which Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger ditched in the Hudson River in January of 2009 will likely soon be at a museum in Charlotte, NC, the city that was its original intended destination.

The Carolinas Aviation Museum will be the airplane's new home, if they can finalize a deal to make the US Airways Airbus a permanent exhibit. The plane was bound for Charolotte from New York when it struck the flock of geese which caused both engines to flame out. The museum's president said people everywhere are "captivated" by the aircraft.

Reuters reports that it will likely take several months for the aircraft to be shipped to Charlotte and put back together. The planned exhibit will include other artifacts from the flight, including Sully's US Airways Captains' Uniform. He has since retired from the airline.
