Control Vision Now Shipping Anywhere Map V1.5

New Version Addresses Terrain, Airspace, Waypoints; Adds Lightning

Control Vision, makers of Anywhere Map, Anywhere Wx and Pocket Plates have announced the release of a round of upgrades to its award-winning moving map system, Anywhere Map, plus a significant addition to its datalink weather system, Anywhere Wx.

One of the few portable GPS systems offering full-color terrain mapping, Anywhere Map now has high-resolution color terrain mapped to one-mile blocks, greatly enhancing the program’s utility in areas of rapidly changing terrain. The enhanced terrain requires only an addition 4 MB of memory and can be placed on a storage card.

Lightning, Anyone?

Anywhere Map’s utility in and near controlled airspace prompted addition of the Class-B Mode C veil to the map display. This will be included in the database upgrade but requires upgrading the software to Version 1.5 to take advantage of the resource.

Class B, C and D airspace representation has been greatly improved particularly in the area of segment altitude display. The markers are clearly visible and do not overlap each other.

A handy pop-up Zoom menu has been added to the View menu. Users can choose any of the pre-selected view ranges in the menu from 1 NM to 50 NM, rock the Hat Switch up or down for magnification, or tap the Zoom item and have instant access to 100, 250, 500 and 1,000 NM views of the map.

Anywhere Wx now offers, as an option, lightning strikes for the weather display.

The color-coded display distinguishes between the most recent strikes, those 6-10 minutes-old, and 11-20 minutes-old. “The advantage over Stormscopes® and Strikefinders®,” said Control Vision President and CEO Jay Humbard, “is being able to see not only the lightning danger zone in IMC but its precise position as well as the position and movement of convective weather around it.”
