Pratts Alive! Dallas Airmotive Tooling Up For PW308 MRO Work

BBA Also Sees Growth In PW500, JT15D Overhauls

BBA Aviation Engine Repair and Overhaul (ERO) company Dallas Airmotive is tooling up to service PW308 series engines used on Falcon 2000EX/DX and Hawker 4000, as delivery of these new business jets increases. Dallas Airmotive is the only OEM authorized, independent repair and overhaul facility for the PW300 series in North America where more than half of the aircraft using these engines are based.

"We have a full set of tooling in place at our Dallas overhaul facility and are communicating closely with Pratt & Whitney Canada to ensure we are fully capable of supporting the fleet as it continues to mature," said BBA Aviation ERO President Hugh McElroy. "We have highly experienced PW300 series technicians who are training on the PW308 so that we can offer first rate shop and service level support to the fleet for either scheduled or unscheduled maintenance."

Delivery of the Falcon 2000EX started in 2003 and deliveries of the Falcon 2000DX and Hawker 4000 commenced this year. There are more than 400 PW308 series engines in the field. "Although it is early in the lifecycle of these engines," commented McElroy, "we want operators to know that an experienced P&WC Designated Overhaul Facility will be available to support them."

Dallas Airmotive is also OEM authorized on PW305 (Learjet 60, Hawker 1000) and PW306 (Gulfstream G200, Citation Sovereign) engines. These engines are generating an increasing level of activity as they are entering their first major service interval. More than 2,100 PW300 series engines are in service worldwide.

BBA Aviation ERO's Dallas Airmotive company is also the only OEM authorized independent MRO facility in North America for the PW500 series of small turbofan engines. "We've significantly increased our volume of work in the emerging PW500 market during the past two years," McElroy stated. "We expect this growth to continue for the foreseeable future as these engines enter their first major cycle of overhaul events."

Dallas Airmotive performs PW500 overhauls at its Dallas, TX overhaul facility. Repairs and Hot Section Inspection services are offered at Regional Turbine Centers (RTC) in Dallas; Millville, NJ and Portsmouth, England. Line services are offered at the Pittsburgh, PA RTC.

The PW500 is used on the Cessna Citation Bravo, Citation V Encore, Encore+, Excel, XLS and XLS+. More than 2,500 PW500 engines are in service worldwide.

BBA Aviation ERO's H+S Aviation company has seen significant growth in its JT15D service for operators in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. H+S Aviation, located in Portsmouth, England, is a Pratt & Whitney Canada Designated Overhaul Facility.

"Business aviation has been experiencing double digit growth in Europe and the Middle East in the past few years," stated McElroy. "The scramble to acquire business jets has also created a healthy market for used aircraft many of which are powered by the JT15D. Our H+S Aviation operation added JT15D overhaul capability in 2005 and has seen its business grow steadily."

The JT15D is used on the Citation I and II, and on the Beechjet 400A among others. More than 5,700 JT15D engines are in operation worldwide.

"All in all, our Pratt & Whitney Canada services are healthy and remain strong," commented McElroy.
