GAMA Second Quarter 2022 Aircraft Shipment and Billing Report Released

Positive Rate: Gear [Sales] Up

GAMA’s second quarter 2022 numbers indicate increasing aircraft deliveries across nearly all aircraft types and models, along with a commensurate increase in the overall value of the shipped aircraft. In all, the first half of 2022 saw shipments of 1,147 fixed-wing aircraft, and 344 helicopters valued at $9.1-billion and $1.3-billion respectively.

Obitts Outbound: Castagna Inbound

On 24 August 2022, NATA formally announced that Timothy Obitts will step down as the association’s President and CEO effective 01 September 2022. Mr. Obitts will take up the mantle of Chief Legal Officer for low-carbon energy and biofuel concern Alder Fuels. NATA’s board has appointed Curt Castagna, president and CEO of aviation consultancy Aeroplex Group Partners, to serve as the outfit’s 11th President and CEO.

Sun ‘n Fun Host Reminds Students of Multiple ACE-Sponsored Flight Training Scholarships 

The ACE celebrated the 150th private pilot educated under their James C. Ray Scholarship Program, Hayden Gomez, who completed his check ride in early August on his way to an airline career. The ACE program allowed the Central Florida Aerospace Academy graduate to complete his training for the first of whe he hopes will be a series of ratings prior to attending Jacksonville University. Once there, he plans to pursue a degree in Aviation Management and Flight Operations, building experience for the day he goes on to achieve a common goal for most private pilots: finally being paid to fly.

The world has lost the last airworthy Hawker Hurricane Mk. IV—an eminently capable iteration of Britain’s storied WWII fighter. Inmarsat Completes Development of Falcon 300 Aircraft Satellite Terminal

System to Launch with SAUDIA Airlines

Inmarsat recently announced that a new terminal for its GX Aviation inflight broadband is now ready for deployment. Dubbed Falcon 300, the lightweight, low-drag terminal has received full type approval for use over Inmarsat’s Global Xpress (GX) satellite network, and will enter commercial service with Saudi Arabia’s national carrier SAUDIA in early 2023. The air-carrier will install the Falcon 300 terminal on 35 of its Airbus A321neo and A321XLR aircraft.
