FCC Fines Hobbyking More Than $2.8 Million For Drones

Drone Transmitters Used Unauthorized Radio Frequencies & Power Levels

The FCC has fined HobbyKing $2,861,128 for marketing drone transmitters which did not comply with FCC licensing rules. HobbyKing markets devices that provide a video link between transmitters mounted on unmanned aircraft systems and users flying drones. An FCC investigation found that dozens of devices marketed by the company transmitted in unauthorized radio frequency bands and, in some cases, operated at excessive transmission power levels.

Hartzell's 78" Diameter Odyssey Features Advanced Structural Composite Blade Technology

SR22 and SR22T pilots can now add Hartzell Propeller's four-blade structural composite carbon fiber propeller, called the Odyssey, to their airplanes for $35,000. The new propeller has been available as an STC option for new aircraft from the factory since earlier this year. Hartzell's new offering is supplied with a polished aluminum spinner assembly and is available with or without ice protection. Embraer Boosts Phenom Maintenance Intervals To 800 Flight Hours

This Is A 33% Maintenance Interval Improvement

Embraer has revised the Scheduled Maintenance Requirements (SMR) for the Phenom family of jets. The revision extends the intervals between stops from 600 flight hours and/or 12 months and multiples to 800 flight hours or 12 months and multiples. Most of the tasks with double intervals were also optimized to the longest period.

NTSB Prelim: Cessna 188

Airplane Impacted The Canola Field Left Wing Down And Came To Rest With The Right Wing Laying Over The Left Wing

On July 9, 2020, about 0805 central daylight time, a Cessna 188 airplane, Canadian registry CGWWE, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Pembina, North Dakota. The commercial pilot was seriously injured. The airplane was operated as a Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR) Subpart 702 aerial work flight. About 0745, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer observed the airplane spraying fungicide on a canola field in Canada adjacent to the U.S. border.
