New Aircraft Introduced At Jacksonville, FL P-8A Roll-Out Ceremony

Will Be Integrated With Unmanned BAMS Platform For Maritime Patrol

More than 1,200 distinguished visitors filled the Patrol Squadron 30 hangar at Naval Air Station Jacksonville March 28 to celebrate the first fleet delivery of the P-8A Poseidon multi-mission aircraft. "In the same year that our maritime patrol and reconnaissance force (MPRF) is celebrating 50 years of service for the P-3 Orion, we're also celebrating the fleet introduction of P-8 Poseidon," said Capt. Mark Stevens, VP-30 commanding officer and master of ceremonies.

Boeing and Angola flag carrier TAAG Linhas Aereas de Angola (Angola Airlines) finalized an order Monday for three additional 777-300ER (Extended Range) airplanes. The order, valued at $895 million at list prices, also includes purchase rights for three additional 777-300ERs. Aviation growth throughout the African continent continues to outpace the world average as more people fly to and from Africa. Angola's economy continues to grow at a rapid pace and with that growth comes more demand for air travel.

Ten Complete Masters Instructor Course In March

Join Only About 700 Instructors To Complete Rigorous Course

Ten instructors completed their accreditation by Master Instructors LLC in the month of March. According to the orgainzation, fewer than 700 of the 96,000 registerd CFIs in the country have been so accredited. The last 17 National Flight Instructors of the Year were Master CFIs. In addition, the FAA has approved the accreditation as an alternate means for CFIs to renew their flight instructor certificates.

Air Force leaders provided an update on the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board study into the F-22 Raptor life support systems and flight operations during a briefing in the Pentagon March 29. Flight attendants at US Airways  represented by the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA), have voted to not ratify a proposed five-year collective bargaining agreement. US Airways and AFA reached a tentative agreement on January 27, 2012 that would cover the airline's 6,700 flight attendants who are based in its three hub cities of Charlotte, NC, Philadelphia and Phoenix and its Washington, D.C. focus city.
