Five military personnel were lost Tuesday when their CH-47
Chinook crashed in Iraq during what was described as a "routine
post-check maintenance flight."
Boeing says its CH-47F Chinook helicopter has been certified
combat-ready by the US Army and fielded to the first operational
unit, making it the latest addition to the Army's aviation
fleet.
And the decision is... to postpone making a decision. NASA
engineers announced late Wednesday it would hold off on determining
to add a fifth spacewalk to the STS-118 mission, to conduct
possibly risky repairs to the shuttle Endeavour's underside.
Boeing and Virgin Atlantic Airways announced this week the
airline will use Boeing's Airplane Health Management system to
monitor the inflight condition of its 747-400 fleet -- another step
in the companies' growing partnership focused on reducing the
environmental impact of air travel.

Raises Bid For Fourth Time In Eight Months 'At Request Of
Shareholders'
It STILL isn't over... and we're starting to wonder if
it ever will be. After being soundly rejected by Midwest Airlines
in its quest to take over that carrier, on Tuesday AirTran Holdings
Inc. raised its offer to buy the airline by three percent. The
last-ditch bid works out to about $445 million, or $16.25 per
share.
"Faster." That's the common theme behind two recent
announcements by Spectrum Aeronautical LLC, which tells ANN it
continues to make strides in bringing two new business jets to
market.

said that, when the ANN staff received the latest news release from
Embraer on Tuesday... we were, shall we say, underwhelmed.
