Source: Stuart, FL resident Lynne Pine, who is also a member of the Witham Airport Action Majority, a group of residents suing Martin County over the 1998 extension of one of Witham Field's three runways. The FAA has rejected a proposal by county officials to remove the extension, and is considering three other suggestions for moving a runway overrun zone away from recent homes built close to the 50-plus-year-old airport.
