Aero-TV: Keeping History Alive - Capturing the Stories of Georgia Aviation

Writer Marty Steiner Shares Georgia’s Rich Aviation History

Two years ago, Georgia commemorated the centennial anniversary of the state’s first beginnings in aviation.  In 1907, Ben T. Epps successfully piloted his hand-built aircraft 100 yards across a cow pasture near Athens, Georgia.

Over the next 19 years, Epps would become one of the state’s premiere aviation pioneers, paving the foundation for an industry that is now one of the state’s leading economic generators.  From the world’s busiest commercial airport, the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, to Georgia’s largest industrial employer, the Robins Air Force Base, aviation impacts nearly every Georgian in the state.

In celebration of this rich history and influence, Georgia’s own Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation helped underwrite the production of “Georgia Flight:  The History of Aviation in Georgia.” Join Aero-TV as writer Marty Steiner, drawing from his extensive research and interviews, shares a glimpse of Georgia’s vast aviation history.
