Two Lost In WA Plane Crash Saturday

Pilot Reported Engine Problems

A woman and her 34-year-old niece were killed Saturday when their experimental aircraft, type unreported, crashed outside Stanwood, WA.

The Everett Herald reports Ann Price, 54, and her passenger had just taken off from Arlington Municipal Airport (AWO) for a short flight to a private airstrip on Camano Island, about 13 nautical miles to the northwest.

Family members say Price had talked with her husband shortly before the accident, and told him the plane was losing power and she was looking for a place to land.

Witnesses said they saw the plane circling overhead, its engine "sputtering," just before 1300 local time Saturday. The aircraft then nosed into a field outside the town limits.

FAA records show a Kolb Twinstar and a Vans RV-6 registered to Ann Price. Photos from the scene appear to show the wreckage of an RV.

Price was described as an experienced pilot, who often flew out of AWO. FAA and NTSB investigators are on the scene.
