TSA Agent Swept Up In Child Porn Sting

Agency Has Suspended The TSO From His Job

A 59-year-old TSA agent assigned to Logan International Airport in Boston, MA, was one of 55 people rounded up in a child pornography crackdown which involved multiple law enforcement agencies. Jose E. Salgado of Chelsea, MA, has been suspended from his duties because of the criminal charges filed against him, according to a report in the Boston Herald.

TSA has been cooperating fully with our law enforcement partners during the investigation into this matter,” TSA spokeswoman Ann Davis said in a statement. “Upon learning of these charges, TSA took immediate action and the individual is not working at the airport.”

Salgado is the third TSA agent assigned to Logan to be charged with sexual crimes in the past two years, according to the paper. Similar charges have been filed against TSA employees in several other states, including Georgia, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Virginia.

While Salgado has been charged, he has not been arrested, according to the paper. The investigation has been going on since January, according to Bruce Foucart, special agent in charge of the Boston field office of Homeland Security Investigations.
