Former House Speaker Talks Aviation To The Aircraft Electronics

Newt Gingrich's high-energy luncheon speech at the 2008 Aircraft
Electronic Association annual convention provided more than a
little opportunity for some thought-provoking discussion throughout
the annual gathering.
No matter what you think of the man or his politics, Gingrich
was knowledgeable and well-prepared to speak on aviation matters to
an aviation-centric audience... who seemed more than interested in
what the former House Speaker had to say. Gingrich covered ALL the
bases... progress, technology, education, ATC, Airspace, GPS,
airports... you name it.
Despite being out of office for several years, Gingrich remains
a prominent and compelling figure in the Republican Party, as well
as the Washington political scene. Gingrich spoke during the AEA's
main luncheon on Friday, April 25, at the Gaylord National Resort
in Washington, DC.
AEA says Gingrich gives audiences the "big picture" view of the
issues at stake in the upcoming presidential election, and the
future of the country after the votes are cast. He draws on his
years in the front lines of politics and his current role as a
leading figure in entrepreneurial and technological advances to
discuss the current political climate in Washington and offer an
up-to-the-minute look at today’s issues and events.
A prolific author, Gingrich has published several fiction and
nonfiction best sellers. His nonfiction books include "Winning the
Future: A 21st Century Contract with America," "Contract with
America," "To Renew America," "Lessons Learned the Hard Way,"
"Saving Lives & Saving Money," "Window of Opportunity," "The
Art of Transformation," "Rediscovering God in America," which was
made into a documentary-style movie with he and his wife, Callista,
"A Contract with the Earth," and his latest "Real Change." He also
is the author of these fiction books: "Gettysburg," "Grant Comes
East," "Never Call Retreat: Lee & Grant, the Final Victory,"
"1945," and "Pearl Harbor: A Novel of December 8."

OK, folks, here we go... we are NOW initiating the first
feature programming series for Aero-TV... we're going to take it
slow, but we're also going to try and be steady about this. DO
UNDERSTAND that this is the most complex media program we've ever
undertaken and what you're seeing is just the tip of the iceberg...

If you've been an observer of the media and associated media
industries over the last few years, it's not hard to mistake the
fact that a massive revolution is taking place. Old sources for
news and information are falling by the wayside, having to change
their modus operandi or risk obsolescence (or extinction).
Electronic media and print media are both under the assault of
progress, and the online world has been a cornerstone for
revolutionary change.
We've been ready to go for a while, but to be honest, there's so
much more to this program than we've alluded to, and so we've been
building and planning a massive new organization within ANN. That
said, we're hiring talented new people as
fast as we can find them (a far more difficult
task than we had imagined -- REALLY good people are hard to find),
and we're brainstorming at speeds that would make a deorbiting
Space Shuttle feel like a slug. Suffice it to say that we wanted to
do this right, rather than right-now, and that the development of
this program has been the most carefully pursued undertaking we've
ever undertaken.
