And Again... US Airways Flight Diverted, Passenger Subdued

ANN REALTIME REPORTING 08.25.06 1500 EDT: Friday is proving to be a rough day when it comes to diverted airline flights... as Aero-News has learned of yet ANOTHER plane diverted due to a security issue.

Unlike two other flights that were either diverted or delayed over security concerns, this incident did not involve an international flight... but rather a US Airways A321 bound for North Carolina from Phoenix, that was diverted to Oklahoma City's Will Rogers World Airport Friday morning after an air marshal subdued a passenger.

The incident came after some kind of altercation between the passenger and a flight attendant, according to US Airways spokesman Morgan Durrant. He did not elaborate on the nature of that incident.

The airliner was to resume its flight to Charlotte once security completed its sweep of the plane, Durrant added.

Earlier Friday, an Aer Lingus flight from New York to Dublin, via Shannon, was held on the ground in Shannon after a bomb threat was called in while the plane was in flight. After passengers were deplaned, a search of the aircraft and all baggage aboard revealed no explosives.

ANN also continues to follow an incident involving an American Airlines flight bound for Chicago from Manchester, England that was diverted to Bangor, ME after an unspecified security threat.

Stay tuned to ANN for further information on these rather unsettling developments.
