PSA Flight Attendants File For Federal Mediation

Negotiations Have Been Going On For More Than A Year

PSA Airlines flight attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA), recently filed for mediation with the National Mediation Board (NMB).

"After continued negotiations, little progress has been made and management continues to be disrespectful at the bargaining table," said Sheila Revis, AFA-CWA PSA President. "We can no longer afford to deal with a management team that refuses to negotiate in good faith. We are committed to reaching a new agreement that is acceptable for our members and look forward to having the NMB appoint a mediator who will help move negotiations in that direction."

AFA-CWA has met with management frequently since negotiations began in May 2009. While AFA-CWA says they have attempted to address flight attendant concerns, management continues to come to the table with what the union says are regressive proposals. For over eight years, PSA flight attendants have been working under an agreement in which they say their work load has been drastically increased while their quality of life has suffered. In addition, PSA flight attendants' say their compensation is much less than their colleagues' at similar airlines.

AFA-CWA has requested a mediator in order to obtain management's active and statutorily required participation in the negotiations process. PSA Airlines is a wholly-owned subsidiary of US Airways.
