AEA 2004 Promises Big News This Week

ANN Is Already On Scene and Ready To Report Some BIG News

ANN Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, is already in Las Vegas, having set up ANN's new tradeshow display and checking into the latest rumors on the eve of the 2004 rendition of the 2004 AEA Convention and tradeshow.

ANN will be support AEA's mission and the interests of aviators the world over with DAILY coverage, special editorial, and (ta-da!) special AEA-specific Klyde Morris cartoons for each day of the event, so we can have a little more fun, to boot.

As the official daily news service for the Aircraft Electronics Association confab, ANN has learned that there will be MAJOR announcements at AEA this year... particularly in terms of GA avionics. We have to keep our mouths shut until late Tuesday when the New Product Introduction session concludes, but we can assure you that there is some very cool stuff to read about.

The 2004 AEA Convention and tradeshow, hosted this year at the Paris Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas, NV, is all about supporting the needs of the avionics industry and is well populated by manufacturers, regulators, avionics shops and hundreds of other aviation professionals. Seminars, meetings, learning sessions and a well-attended tradeshow make this THE event for the avionics industry each year.

This will be the first appearance of ANN's new Tradeshow Display, designed by Ace Photo-Geek Tyson Rininger, whose work has REALLY impressed the people who have seen it so far. The new tradeshow display (graphic design shown below) feature some of Tyson's best photographic work as a backdrop for ANN's name and message-- it really looks great. If you're in town to attend AEA 2004, stop by booth 333 and visit with ANN's Jim Campbell, Art Weiss and Larry Pius. If you or your company is in a position to make news, be sure to get a briefing on how to make sure you get your news to ANN in a timely and effective manner, and take a moment to look into our sponsorship programs so that you may help ANN continue to lead the aviation world in delivering the most comprehensive Daily news service in the biz.

There will be hundreds of ideas presented at informative sessions—offering more than 25 hours of learning opportunities in just three days. Some of the topics will include:

  • Fast-Trak Seminars will be offered the opening day of convention. These seminars, taking place on Monday, March 29, will offer a choice of two eight-hour or four four hour in-depth workshops in the morning and four four-hour workshops in the afternoon.
  • Regulatory Panels are always some of the most intense sessions on the program, as FAA, Transport Canada, EASA and other regulatory agencies are invited to discuss the latest regulations. These sessions will include an overview of recent regulatory and legislative activity in Washington; regulations and policies affecting maintenance facilities, air carriers and personnel; and overview of the FAA’s new FITS program; RVSM maintenance; a question and answer session with FAA officials; and more. ANN's Jim Campbell is a featured speaker at one of these sessions.
  • Technical Workshops on new equipment installations, troubleshooting, service and repair, and sales techniques will be offered by 20 manufacturers and distributors throughout the convention.
  • New Product Introductions—with a record-breaking number of new products being introduced: 30—allow manufacturers to showcase their latest and greatest equipment. Attendees will get an up-close look at what their customers will be asking for in the future.
ANN Donating To The Cause -- Klyde Is, Too!

The AEA Educational Foundation’s Silent Auction is also off to a great start. There will be a variety of items to bid on—some aviation–related and some not. The auction will benefit the Educational Foundation, which provides over $100,000 in scholarships each year.

For several years, ANN has been pleased to donate items to this worthy cause and this year is no exception. In addition to two autographed copies of Jim Campbell's highly regarded study of the Bob Hoover v. FAA fiasco, entitled "Air of Injustice," Klyde Morris Cartoonist Wes Oleszewski has scripted four SPECIAL Klyde Morris cartoons for this year's AEA event, and has printed and autographed single copies of each one to be part of the AEA Silent Auction!

The Aircraft Electronics Association represents nearly 1,200 aviation businesses, including repair stations that specialize in maintenance, repair and installation of avionics and electronic systems in general aviation aircraft. AEA membership also includes instrument facilities, manufacturers of avionics equipment, instrument manufacturers, airframe manufacturers, test equipment manufacturers, major distributors, and educational institutions.
