Aerosonic Awarded US Army Aviation and Missile Command Contract for Altimeters

Aerosonic Corporation, a provider of precision flight products for commercial, business and military aircraft, today announced that the US Army Aviation and Missile Command has awarded the company a contract for 350 altimeters to support UH60 Black Hawk and CH47 Chinook Helicopters. Deliveries are scheduled to begin later this year. This order initiates the second option period on a master contract valued at $19 million.

The contract was originally awarded in May 2002 with options extending through the year 2006.

"Recent budget cuts for Navy and Air Force programs are presenting difficult challenges for many Defense contractors. We are fortunate to have a strong presence in Army Aviation. These programs are receiving increased funding to support the heavy defense transport requirements of current and possible future military conflicts," commented David A. Baldini, Chairman, President and CEO.

The UH60 Black Hawk and CH47 Chinook Helicopters are primary defense transport aircraft utilized for assault, air cavalry, and aeromedical evacuation units. Altimeters on these aircraft furnish flight crews with measurements of static (barometric) pressure and display it in terms of feet of altitude. The altimeters operate within tight performance tolerances to insure accuracy and safety of flight.
