ANN Special Feature: EAA's Earl Lawrence On Mid-Winter Meetings With The FAA 01.27.06
At a time when relations between the FAA and pilots are strained over issues like user fees and reduced services... there is at least one very bright spot of cooperation. It's the agency's mid-winter meeting with the EAA... an annual event where both sides set an agenda of sorts for the coming year. How far they get on that agenda is usually the subject of the administrator's report delivered every summer at the big Oshkosh Fly-In. Earl Lawrence is the EAA's vice president in charge of industry and regulatory affairs -- the guy must have a four-foot long name-plate on his desk -- and says there was a lot of behind-the-scenes work accomplished in two days of meetings at the association's headquarters in Oshkosh last week.
