DeLand, Fl, got hammered this past week... first by a tornado that did extensive damage to the city and its residents and businesses, and then later in the week, severe storms hammered the popular airport best known for being the home of the annual DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase. Airport officials noted that, "Three aircraft were severely damaged at DeLand Municipal Airport after a storm producing gusts of more than 70 mph ripped through north DeLand Thursday night. Coast Guard MH-60 Crew Rescues Surfer, 3 Others

An MH-60 Jayhawk Helicopter Was Already Airborne And Diverted To The Area

A Coast Guard aircrew hoisted a surfer in distress and assisted three others Saturday afternoon from rocks at Cape Falcon near Manzanita, Oregon. At 5:15 p.m., watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Columbia River Command Center received a request for assistance from Tillamook County dispatch reporting a male surfer who was unable to get back to shore and became stuck on nearby rocks. Three other surfers who were in wetsuits tried to assist the man, but they also became trapped on rocks and were unable to get back to shore. A Coast Guard aircrew aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter was already airborne and diverted to the area.

The TSA collected $926,030.44 in unclaimed money that passengers left behind at airport security checkpoints during Fiscal Year 2019, including $18,899.09 in foreign currency. The money consisted of loose change and paper currency that passengers removed from their pockets and left behind in a bin during the security screening process at TSA checkpoints. The amount found during FY19, which ended September 30, 2019, marked a decrease in the amount of unclaimed money collected in FY18 when $960,105.49 was left behind.

On August 7, 2020, about 1036 eastern daylight time, a Cessna P210N, N6300W, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Allendale, South Carolina. The pilot and passenger were seriously injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. AD 2020-17-11 Requires Replacing Certain Left-Hand (LH) and RH Hydraulic Pumps

The FAA is superseding Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2017-14-05 for Airbus Helicopters Model SA330J helicopters. AD 2017-14-05 required replacing certain right-hand (RH) hydraulic pumps and was prompted by reports of broken screws that attach the cover of the hydraulic pump. This new AD requires replacing certain left-hand (LH) and RH hydraulic pumps. This AD was prompted by reports of broken bolts that attach the cover of the hydraulic pump. The actions of this AD are intended to address an unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective September 22, 2020.
