TSO Approval Expected For Q4 2020

uAvionix Corporation has filed a Technical Standard Order (TSO) application with the FAA Aircraft Certification Office (ACO) for its flagship Mode S ADS-B OUT transponder for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). The ping200X follows a line of groundbreaking, low Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) avionics developed and certified by uAvionix for UAS and General Aviation aircraft. Approval is expected in Q4 2020.

Dufour Demonstrates eVTOL Flight Transitions

Releases On-Board Video Of Full Transition Flight

This summer, Dufour reports that it completed the first phase of flight testing of their eVTOL demonstrator, with 550 test flights. They were able to show a high degree of stability and control in all conditions, including full transitions from hover to cruise and back again. The demonstrator was designed as a research platform to prove their understanding of the flight dynamics and develop their control laws for large size tilt-wing aircraft. It has helped them build the technology for aEro 3, their upcoming manned tilt-wing aircraft for medical transport and regional air mobility.

NORAD F-22's Intercept Russian Bombers

NORAD Also Positively Identified A Nearby Russian A-50

North American Aerospace Defense Command F-22 fighter aircraft, supported by E-3 airborne warning and control system and KC-135 refueler aircraft, intercepted two Russian Tu-95 bombers escorted by two Su-35 fighter aircraft late Monday evening. NORAD also positively identified a Russian A-50 supporting the intercepted aircraft which loitered within the ADIZ for approx 1.5 hrs and came within 30nm of Alaskan shores. All Russian aircraft remained in int'l airspace and at no time entered US or Canadian sovereign airspace.

He Noted An “Abrupt Reduction In Engine Noise”

On October 11, 2020, about 0825 eastern daylight time, a Piper PA-32-260, N3595W, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident at Dekalb-Peachtree Airport (PDK), Atlanta, Georgia. The pilot and two passengers were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to the pilot, he landed at PDK on October 10, 2020, and requested the airplane fuel tanks be topped off. On the day of the accident, he performed a preflight inspection of the airplane with no anomalies noted and taxied the airplane to runway 21R. AD 2020-21-21 Requires Removing Certain Main Rotor (M/R) Floating Ring Assemblies From Service

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Leonardo S.p.a. (Leonardo) Model A109E, A109S, A119, AW109SP, and AW119MKII helicopters. This AD requires removing certain main rotor (M/R) floating ring assemblies from service. This AD also prohibits replacing any washer on any M/R floating ring assembly. This AD was prompted by a report of a washer debonding from the M/R floating ring assembly. The actions of this AD are intended to address an unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective November 24, 2020.
