Aero-TV: Renewed ADS-B Rebate - The AEA/FAA Partnership At Work

Some Rebate Money Remains Available To Pilots And Operators

The FAA recently revived its $500 rebate program for ADS-B equipage with the the January 1, 2020 deadline only 14 months away. AEA president and CEO Paula Derks told Aero-News Editor in Chief Jim Campbell at NBAA earlier this month that there is still some money in the rebate budget that has not been claimed. She said that there is still "quite a lag" between the number of airplanes that have installed the required equipment and the number of aircraft that will need to be equipped to fly legally in controlled airspace after January 1, 2020.

The Soyuz MS-10 escape capsule that executed a ballistic descent after a booster failure on launch earlier this month hit the ground five times before coming to a stop. An anonymous source said that "sensors of the reentry capsule registered that it suffered five hits during the landing. That is, the spacecraft hit the ground, bounced several times and rolled over." Experts have studied the sensors that are incorporated into the seats of each crew member. The short-term overload reportedly reached more than 10 Gs. FAA Releases NPRM Supporting EAA Training Initiative

Comments Must Be Received By November 23

The FAA has released a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) that supports a crucial EAA ultralight and sport pilot training initiative. The NPRM amends 14 CFR 91.319(e)(2) to allow compensated flight training in experimental light-sport aircraft (E-LSA) in certain circumstances under a letter of deviation authority (LODA).

Three Hundred Pilots To Join World’s Largest Pilots Union After CIRB Certification

An overwhelming majority of Sky Regional pilots today filed membership cards with the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) seeking representation by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA). Under Canadian regulations, the CIRB will now investigate the application for certification, which may include contacting Sky Regional pilots who turned in a card to confirm its authenticity.

Earlier this year, the FAA approved AerTrak for Boeing 737 NG series aircraft (ST04009NY) and Boeing 757-200 series aircraft (ST04011NY) to comply with the FAA’s Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) Operations rule.
