Airborne 08.30.17: Porter PC-6 Departs, RAF Red Arrows, Hartzell Pre-Flight

It brought fame to the Pilatus name worldwide – the Pilatus Porter PC-6. This multi-role aircraft has been produced at Stans without interruption since 1959, currently ten aircraft per year at most. The PC-6 is one of the world's longest-running production stories in the aviation industry. That will come to an end in early 2019 when production will cease. Support will be provided to existing customers for the next 20 years at least, thereby ensuring reliable ongoing PC-6 operations. The first solar wing for Bye Aerospace's "StratoAirNet", a solar-electric unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has been completed and delivered by SolAero Technologies Corp (SolAero). SolAero is integrating their advanced high-efficiency solar cell technologies on the graphite composite StratoAirNet wing using proprietary methods to maintain the critical laminar flow surface on the wing.

Airbus Delivers First U.S.-Produced A320 To Spirit Airlines

Had Previously Delivered 36 A321 Aircraft Since Production Began In 2015

Executives from Airbus and Spirit Airlines were on hand Monday in Mobile, AL for the first delivery of an A320 aircraft from the Airbus U.S. manufacturing facility. The aircraft, delivered to Spirit Airlines, is the 37th overall delivery from the U.S. facility since production began in July 2015. The previous 36 aircraft were A321 aircraft, making this delivery another important milestone for Airbus.
