European low-cost carrier Norwegian has firmed up its order for 100 A320neo aircraft with Airbus. This follows a commitment signed in January. The order makes Norwegian a new Airbus customer, and as well, one of the biggest A320neo customers.

Kearney Regional Airport Enplanements Up Two Years Running

Kearney Regional airport in Nebraska is seeing signs of a recovering economy, and is expecting over 10,000 enplanements in 2012 for the second year in a row. That number is significant because it guarantees the airport $1 million in grant money from the FAA. The airport has five years afterwards to spend on safety upgrades, navigational aids, runway lights, new pavement and similar projects.

Drones similar to those flying in Afghanistan and Pakistan might soon be patrolling the skies over the United States filling a variety of roles from aerial photography and land surveying to law-enforcement duties. Their ultimate fate is being decided now by the FAA, who is at work on rules to determine how drones will safely share airspace with manned aircraft. Some of the integration testing could be done in Florida; the FAA could pick the six testing sites as early as this December.

Japan's Newest Low-Cost Carrier to Start Operations With All-Airbus Fleet In August

Japan’s newest low-cost carrier AirAsia Japan has taken delivery of its first Airbus A320 aircraft in Toulouse, France. The Narita-based carrier will start commercial services on August 1st from Narita International Airport to Sapporo and Fukuoka, and from August 3rd to Okinawa with an initial fleet of two aircraft.

The Training System Is Now Operational At The Hainan Airlines Pilot Training Center

Indra has delivered the first of two Airbus A320 simulators purchased by Hainan Airlines. The system is already providing service at the airline's flight training centre in the city of Sanya on the island of Hainan. Indra will supply the second system later this year. The Indra simulator has entered into service after successfully passing its certification tests with a Level D, which is the maximum for civil simulators.

The CN235 is a robust aircraft with a six tonne payload that is well-proven in hot, dusty and humid conditions throughout Africa. It is flexible and reliable with good short take-off and landing capability, and its cabin can be easily reconfigured for a variety of transport missions.

Attorney Claims Aircraft Was 'Dangerous And Defective'

The husband of one of the crash victims of the Dana Air jet that went down June 3rd is suing Boeing and United Technologies. The suit claims the aircraft was “dangerous and defective.” David Chukwunonso Allison, whose wife Joy was among the 153 lost in the Lagos crash is also suing the estate of the pilot. The MD-83, operated by Dana Air, reportedly radioed a distress signal to report engine failure, and came down in an apartment block while on approach to land.
