Just A Reminder Who's Boss...

Over the past several weeks, the US military has reported increased Taliban activity in the mountains of Afghanistan. On Wednesday, a US Air Force B-1B Lancer reminded some of those insurgents that their presence is not welcome in that country... by striking a Taliban-associated compound near Kandahar in support of coalition ground forces conducting operations to detain individuals suspected of terrorist activities.

ISS Flies A Satellite Within A Satellite

ISS Report #25, 3:30 p.m. CDT, Friday, May 19, 2006

In space this week, a satellite flew within a satellite. International Space Station Flight Engineer Jeff Williams 'piloted' a unique spacecraft in three dimensions for the first time around the pressurized Destiny module. The demonstration tested the basics of formation flight and autonomous docking that could be useful in multiple spacecraft formation flying in the future.

Congress May Withhold Some UAV Funding

Government Awaits Crash Investigation

In the wake of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crash last month, Congress has taken action on the program's future by tightening at least some of its purse strings. The House Appropriations Committee on Wednesday passed a homeland security funding bill that would withhold $6.8 million in UAV funds until U.S. Customs and Border Protection reports on the findings of the crash investigation.
