In recent months, there's been no question that the FAA is
seeking changes to the way it's funded. All this is counting down
to October 2007, when Congress will — hopefully before the
current system expires — make the final decision on whether
aviation taxes and the trust fund continue or there is a switch to
an alternative means of collecting money for the FAA.
FAA Addressing MU-2 "Problem" The Wrong Way, Says AOPA
The MU-2B turboprop does not need yet another certification
review. The FAA, reacting to congressional pressure, is "rushing to
fix a problem that has not even been quantified," according to
AOPA.
The FAA is proposing to withdraw a final rule published on
September 15, 2000 that would have amended the reporting
requirements for certificate holders concerning failures,
malfunctions, and defects of aircraft, aircraft engines, systems,
and components.
AMFA National Director O.V. Delle-Femine has said Northwest
Airlines is increasingly desperate and has escalated its
behind-the-scenes campaign to persuade AMFA members to return to
work.
AirTran Airways First 737-700 with Blended Winglets Takes
Off
AirTran Airways' first Boeing 737-700 aircraft with Blended
Winglets was placed into service on September 13, 2005, on flight
502 from Miami to Atlanta.
The historic Pitcairn PCA-2 Autogyro "Miss Champion" is in its
new home -- the Pitcairn hangar at EAA's Pioneer Airport in
Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Steve Pitcairn had meant to have the historic
aircraft at Oshkosh for Airventure, but family matters prevented
it.
The NTSB has filed a probable cuase report in the accident of a
Goodyear Blimp last June 16th, resulting in the non-injury
destruction of the aircraft.
PRIST Aerospace has entered into an alliance with Hammonds Fuel
Additives. Hammonds' additive injector systems and microbicide
Biobor JF are now recommended for use with PRIST anti-icing fuel
additive.

Delta Air Lines Files For Chapter 11 Reorganization To Address
Financial Challenges
After filing bankruptcy, Delta Airlines claims that they
will "continue to operate full flight schedule, honor tickets and
reservations, maintain skymiles program, and provide pay and
benefits to employees.'
Eclipse Aviation tells ANN that they have successfully completed
Eclipse 500 airframe static testing. The achievement of this
major FAA milestone continues the Eclipse 500's aggressive
advancement towards certification in March 2006. The FAA has also
cleared the Eclipse 500 to an initial 10,000 hour lifetime, which
is significantly higher than typically approved by the FAA.
A team of engineers from Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Naval
Air Warfare Center China Lake and The Boeing Company are currently
working together on the P-8A Multimission Maritime Aircraft program
to execute the approved Live-Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E)
Strategy.
California Power Systems, Inc. will be hosting a Rotax Repair
Station Qualifier Seminar on January 19-21, 2006 at their San
Leandro, California facility.
Cessna Aircraft has slected FlightSafety International has been
selected to provide initial type training for the company's
Citation Mustang new generation entry-level jet.
Raytheon Company has been awarded a $38.8 million contract by
the U.S. Navy to provide AN/AAQ-29A Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR)
imaging systems for installation on U.S. Marine Corps Super
Stallion CH-53E helicopters.
For the sixth consecutive year, FACTS Training and AirCare have
been selected by Bombardier Aerospace Learjet to provide emergency
procedures and in-flight medical training at the 2005 Safety
Standdown.
