Prepares MRO Provider In China For The Future
Boeing announced this week Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services
Co., Ltd. (Boeing Shanghai) has received its US Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) Repair Station Certification. The
certification allows Boeing Shanghai to conduct operations in
accordance with Code of Federal Regulations Part 145.
Boeing Shanghai initially is conducting heavy maintenance on
Boeing Next-Generation 737 airplanes. There are more than 235 new
737s flying in the East Asia region, with more than 260 still on
order. The facility also performs non-destructive testing and other
maintenance services.
Future plans call for expansion into twin-aisle airplanes,
beginning with the 767-300. The company eventually will enter the
passenger-to-freighter conversion business.
"Achieving FAA certification is another step in offering our
airline customers the services that will help them expand safely
and efficiently, while keeping pace with the tremendous growth in
commercial aviation that we see in China over the next 20 years,"
said John Bruns, vice president, China Operations, Boeing
Commercial Airplanes.
The Boeing Company is a global enterprise, the world leader in
aerospace and a partner in China's aviation industry. Boeing is
committed to helping ensure safe, advanced commercial aviation in
China.
Boeing Shanghai was established in June 2006 as a joint venture
of Boeing, Shanghai Airport Authorities and Shanghai Airlines.
Boeing Shanghai will provide modification, maintenance, repair and
overhaul services primarily to regional and international airlines
as well as to domestic Chinese airlines.
