The ANN crew has known Glen Moyer for a long time... enjoying his emails and calls with news of the ballooning world, as well as an accompanying passion for all things flight. So... it was no surprise that when we showed up, in force, to cover the extraordinary sights and sounds of the 2010 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, that Glen Moyer was the principal voice for this lofty gathering.
His passion is undeniable... and as the Editor of the Ballooning Federation of America magazine, among other things, Glen has crafted a life in which he not only surrounds himself with the things he loves, he also gives back to the pursuit that has become a driving force in his life. The list of his contributions is impressive... Moyer has also served as a member of the Balloon Federation of America’s Board of Directors and as Secretary, Vice-President and Treasurer of the organization.
In October 2000 he was hired as editor of BFA Publications, a position he continues to hold. In 2006 he was awarded the BFA’s highest honor, the Shields-Trauger Memorial Award for exceptional service to the sport of ballooning and the BFA.
With a background as a television reporter, Moyer has parlayed that experience, along with his first balloon flight nearly four decades ago, to become the voice of ballooning events across the US from border to border and coast to coast. His numerous clients include Freedom Weekend Aloft (SC), Lisle Eyes to the Skies Balloonfest (IL), Plano Balloon Fest (TX), Ballunar Liftoff (TX), the US National Championships, Great Texas Balloon Race (TX), the Coupe Gordon Bennett (NM) and many others, including since 1990 the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta where he teams with longtime friend and colleague Tom Rutherford.
ANN is pleased to present an interview with an uncommon flyer... and (we're pleased to say) a good friend of ours.
