Goes Into Effect At 1530 On Game Day

The FAA has posted details about the TFR it has put in place for the Super Bowl next Sunday. The restrictions will be in place from 1530 to 2359 CST on February 6th.

The TRF is divided into an inner and outer ring. The outer ring has a radius of 30nm. It will be centered on the MAVERICK VOR/DME (TTT) 197 degree radial at 6.8 nautical miles. (Latitude: 32º45'52"N, Longitude: 97º05'34"W) and is in effect from the surface to FL180. The 10nm inner ring has the same center point and also extends to FL180.

No pilots may operate an aircraft in the areas covered by this NOTAM (except as described). 
 
Except as specified below and/or unless authorized by ATC:

All aircraft operations within the 10 NM ring area listed above are prohibited except for approved law enforcement, military aircraft, approved air ambulance, and regularly scheduled commercial passenger and all-cargo carriers operating under one of the following TSA-approved standard security programs/procedures: Aircraft Operator Standard Security Program (AOSSP), Full-All Cargo Aircraft Operator Standard Security Program (FACAOSSP), Model Security Program (MSP), Twelve Five Standard Security Program (TFSSP) All Cargo Only, Or All-Cargo International Security Procedure (ACISP) And Are Arriving Into And/Or Departing From 14 CFR Part 139 Airports.

General Aviation (GA) operations are not permitted at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (KDFW), Grand Prairie Municipal Airport (KGPM) and Arlington Municipal Airport (KGKY).

For operations within the airspace between the 10 NM ring and 30 NM ring listed above, known as the outer ring: all aircraft operating within the outer ring listed above are limited to aircraft arriving or departing local airfields, and workload permitting, ATC may authorize transit operations. Aircraft may not loiter. All aircraft must be on an active IFR or VFR flight plan with a discrete code assigned by an Air Traffic Control (ATC) facility. Aircraft must be squawking the discrete code prior to departure and at all times while in the TFR and must remain in two-way radio communications with ATC.

Special procedures to operate VFR into and out of the following fringe airports: Cleburne Municipal Airport (KCPT), Parker County Airport (KWEA), Kittyhawk Airport (0T7) and Mesquite Metro Airport (KHQZ): a. Pilots are not required to file a flight plan for arrivals or departures. b. The aircraft must squawk code 1201 for KCPT, 1202 for KWEA, 1205 for 0T7 or 1206 for KHQZ to indicate the pilot's intent to arrive or depart the airport. c. Aircraft must squawk the appropriate code before departing. Departing aircraft must immediately exit the TFR after departure before proceeding on course. If departing a fringe airport and intending to land at an airport in the outer ring of the TFR, all aircraft must comply with paragraph 3 above. d. Arriving aircraft should squawk the appropriate code 5NM prior to entering the TFR. When landing at a fringe airport, pilots must enter the TFR at the point closest to the destination airport and proceed via the most direct route. e. Pilots need not contact ATC unless otherwise directed, but contact with ATC is recommended.

VFR Operations for Rhome Meadows Airport (T76) and Heritage Creek Airstrip Airport (58T) are authorized however, due to the proximity to the TFR boundary and to assist Federal agencies in identifying aircraft and pilot intent, pilots arriving or departing these airports should squawk a specific airport code. The airport code for T76 is 1203 and 58T is 1204.

For operations within this TFR, all emergency/life saving flights (air ambulance/law enforcement/firefighting) and DoD flights must coordinate with the FAA at the Super Bowl Air Operations Center (AOC) prior to their departure at 817-468-2112 extension 3003 to avoid potential delays.

The following operations are not authorized within this TFR: flight training, practice instrument approaches, aerobatic flight, glider operations, parachute operations, ultralight, hang gliding, balloon operations, tethered aerostats/balloons, agriculture/crop dusting, animal population control flight operations, banner towing operations, model aircraft operations, model rocketry, seaplane/amphibious water operations, and unmanned aerial systems (UAS).

Any person operating an aircraft within this TFR who becomes aware of an inability to comply with the requirement to continuously squawk the ATC assigned transponder code must immediately request control instructions and comply with all instructions from ATC. If unable to contact ATC, pilots must exit the TFR by the most direct lateral route.

FAA recommends that all aircraft operators check NOTAMs frequently for possible changes to this TFR prior to operations within this region.
