Governor Corbett Makes Proclamation At State Aviation And
Aerospace Conference
Several national aviation organizations are applauding
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett (pictured) for
declaring September 2011 “General Aviation and Aerospace
Appreciation Month” during the Pennsylvania Aviation and
Aerospace Conference held at State College. Governor Corbett was on
hand at the opening of the conference to announce the signing of
the proclamation. Annually, general aviation generates $6 billion
in economic impact while supporting 4,500 jobs at GA
airports.
“We appreciate Governor Corbett’s recognition of
general aviation as a vital resource for communities across the
state of Pennsylvania,” Selena Shilad, Executive Director of
the Alliance for Aviation Across America, commented. “We
thank the Aviation Council of Pennsylvania in particular for their
hard work to help gain recognition about the valuable importance of
general aviation.”
“Governor Corbett has demonstrated the tremendous value of
all general aviation, including business aviation, in Pennsylvania.
We appreciate his support of for an industry that provides $150
million billion for the economy annually and 1.2 million jobs
across the country,” stated Ed Bolen, President and CEO of
the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA). “In
addition, it’s an industry that general aviation allows small
businesses to expand and realize new opportunities, without leaving
their communities.”
James K. Coyne, President and CEO of the National Air
Transportation Association (NATA), stated “The proclamation
of September as ‘General Aviation and Aerospace Appreciation
Month’ is a significant step in recognizing general aviation
as an integral part of the national transportation system. We thank
Governor Corbett for this much-deserved recognition.”
“General aviation, especially helicopters, are critical to
emergency response and essential services.” said Matthew
Zuccaro, President of Helicopter Association International (HAI).
“Governor Corbett’s proclamation of September as
‘General Aviation and Aerospace Appreciation Month’ is
a reminder of the magnitude of an industry we often take for
granted.”
