Shots Fired At Bush Airport In Houston

Gunman Only Casualty After Discharging A Firearm In The Terminal

A man who reportedly fired shots while standing at a ticket counter at Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport Thursday appeared to be the only casualty in the incident, though it was unclear if he took his own life or was killed by a Homeland Security Agent who confronted him. The terminal was closed for a time after the incident.

The unidentified man, said to be about 30 years old, reportedly fired an undetermined number of shots before being confronted by the DHS agent, but did not cause any injuries. After being told to drop his weapon, the agent and the alleged gunman reportedly fired at about the same time, according to a report appearing on Fox news.

A Houston Airport System spokesman said that most of the airport remained open, and passengers scheduled to depart from Terminal B where the incident occurred were rerouted to other gates.

Several witnesses reported hearing the gunshots, as well as "people screaming" in the vicinity of the gunfire.

The body was reportedly found in the lobby of Terminal B at the airport.
