FAA Approves Apical's EC145 Emergency Float Kits For DART

Kits Include Flotation, Optional Life Rafts

DART Helicopter Services says that their subsidiary Apical Industries has received FAA approval of the EC145 Tri-Bag Emergency Float Systems with or without liferafts.  Transport Canada and EASA approvals are pending.

The Apical EC145 Emergency Float Kits consists of four emergency floats attached to the skid gear. A float inflation reservoir is mounted on the underside of the fuselage, along with a cyclic-mounted float inflation handle.  The kit may also contain a set of two 8-person liferafts (with 11 person overload capacity) which are packed on the aft floats and have their own mechanical inflation system.

DART says the patented integrated design of the Apical Liferaft system conserves passenger space and provides a significant safety benefit over cabin mounted options, and all the associated plumbing, hardware and electrical components to complete the installation of the kits are provided.
