Friends of Meigs Spokesman Josh Levy On Chicago's Meigs
Settlement With The FAA
Chicago Mayor Richard
Daley has settled with the FAA over the destruction of Meigs Field.
The city will pay a $33,000 for destroying the airport without
giving the FAA 30-days' notice... and will repay $1 million in
aviation funds used to destroy the airport on Northerly Island.
While the Chicago Sun-Times suggests Daley's critics consider
the Meigs misadventure his "Waterloo," Daley himself apparently
doesn't agree. He told the paper three years ago he thinks
destroying Meigs to build a park on Northerly Island is the
greatest thing he's ever done.
Josh Levy would disagree. Josh speaks for an organization
dedicated to restoring Meigs Field on Northerly Island.
