The aviation community has lost another of its icons. A JN4D Curtiss Jenny has gone down at Candler Field in Pike County, GA, resulting in the fatal injury of the two occupants. One of those on board was Candler Field Principal Ron Alexander (pictured), according to the Pike County Journal-Reporter, radio station WKEU and other sources.

BTS Releases September 2016 Passenger Airline Employment Data

Number Of Jobs Grew 4.3 Percent Over September 2015

U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 4.3 percent more workers in September 2016 than in September 2015, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported today. September was the highest monthly total (414,591) since July 2005 (414.923) and was the 35th consecutive month that U.S. scheduled passenger airline full-time equivalent (FTE) employment exceeded the same month of the previous year.

Pratt & Whitney's PurePower Geared Turbofan Engine has entered into service with VivaAerobus on the operator's A320neo. The aircraft made its first passenger flight on Oct. 18 from Monterrey to Guadalajara, Mexico. This milestone comes days after the last leg of the aircraft's ferry flight became the longest A320neo flight to date.
