We're fond of quoting the late, great, Will Rogers -- specifically one quote that opines, "Be thankful we're not getting all the government we're paying for...' and again, in light of recent events, we believe that Will was WAY ahead of this time. ANN has learned that one of the ridiculous messes created by Washington's inability to prove that it has ANY abilities, namely in terms of governing, has come to an end as the FAA and DoT have caved in and relented on their tower closure fiasco.

FAA Issues SAIB For Piper Magneto Switches

Applies To Certain PA-18 And PA-19 Model Airplanes

The FAA has posted a Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) for an airworthiness concern involving some Piper PA-18 and PA-19 airplanes. The affected aircraft have magneto toggle switches located on the left cabin panel. The FAA has found that the magneto toggle switches can be inadvertently turned off when operating nearby controls and cause a loss of power during takeoff and landing.

On April 16, 2013, Jabiru Aircraft obtained an order of dismissal from the Superior Court of the State of Arizona in Heeswyk v. Jabiru Aircraft. The Van Heeswyk family had filed a wrongful death suit against Jabiru Aircraft (and several other defendants) for damages arising from the death of Gerard Van Heeswyk.

NTSB Issues Factual Report On FL Medical Helo Accident

Aircraft Was Not Certified For Flight In IFR Conditions

The FAA has released a factual report stemming from an accident which happened the day after Christmas in 2011. The accident resulted in the fatal injury of the pilot and two passengers. According to the report, instrument conditions prevailed at the time of the accident, but the helicopter was not equipped for IFR operations.

CAP Teams Among The 100 To Fly Rockets This Weekend

Civil Air Patrol cadets from the Alabama and West Virginia wings make up two of the 100 teams that will compete this weekend in the Team America Rocketry Challenge in The Plains, VA. Teams representing the Alabama Wing’s 117th ANG Composite Squadron, based in Birmingham, and the West Virginia Wing’s Martinsburg Composite Squadron reached the field of finalists after proving themselves equal to this year’s challenge.
