Boeing and British Airways recently signed an order for two Boeing 777-300ER jetliners valued at $529 million at list prices. The American planemaker also announced that GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS) has purchased two 777-300ERs, airplanes that were previously listed as an unidentified order on the Boeing Web site.

Cite Four Recent Incidents Involving Boeing 737s

Pilots at United Airlines have fired the latest salvo in their contentious war of words against the carrier's management. In a letter sent last week to Acting FAA Administrator Robert Sturgell, the chief of the United branch of the Air Line Pilots Association said four recent engine failures on Boeing 737s flown by United may indicate "maintenance standards have deteriorated at United as operational decisions are increasingly driven by economic considerations."

Plane Theft Nets Trespassing Charge

Plane Thief Pleads Guilty To Trespassing  

The thief who absconded with a Cessna 150 from the Jefferson City Memorial Airport, has ultimately been allowed to plead guilty to a single amended charge of Trespassing. The Auxvasse, MO, resident used a hidden key to gain entrance to the Jefferson City Flying Service last February and removed the Cessna's key from within. He had previously been an employee at the same business.
