NBAA 2007 Draws In 32,051 This Year

New Third-Best Attendance Figure

So near, but not so far. This year's National Business Aviation Association Convention came up to within a gnat's wing of besting last year's attendance in Orlando. The delegate count when the doors closed Thursday came to 32,051, just short of the 33,008 recorded last year.

GAO: No Kidding... C-27J REALLY Won Joint Cargo Aircraft Program

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has reconfirmed the selection of the C-27J Spartan for the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force Joint Cargo Aircraft (JCA) program. The services previously selected the C-27J, offered by L-3 Communications), Alenia North America, Boeing Integrated Defense Systems, and Global Military Aircraft Systems (GMAS), in an open competition.

Attended by 36 Embraer operators from Europe, the Middle East and Africa

Embraer held its Operators Conference (EOC), focusing on the ERJ 145 and the E-Jets families, this week, at the Meridien Montparnasse Hotel, in Paris, France, September 24-28. The meeting was attended by representatives of 36 operators from 24 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as Asia Pacific and the Americas. Several Embraer partners and suppliers also participated in the event.

Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum Keeps 95-Year-Old History Flying

As history books document the first flights at Kitty Hawk, N.C., by two brothers from Ohio, the Marine Corps honors 1st Lt. Alfred A. Cunningham, as the father of Marine Corps aviation. Cunningham’s first flight occurred on May 22, 1912, and since then countless combat flights have taken place enabling an advance in mission accomplishment. In the 1940s, four Marine aircraft wings were established to support the Corps’ aviation operations.

NBAA Announces New Board Officers

Jeffrey W. Lee Is New Chairman

NBAA has implemented its Board officer succession plan, as Jeffrey W. Lee of IBM Corporation succeeded Kenneth E. Emerick of GM Worldwide Travel Services as Board chairman. Pat Cunningham of PepsiCo, Inc. is NBAA’s new vice chairman and treasurer, filling the role vacated by Lee. Emerick will serve on the Board's Executive Committee in the position of immediate past chairman. These officer elections for two-year terms were held in June and took effect 9/27.
