Another Wayward Kid At The Controls?

Student's Father Denies His Son Flew Low

Not again... a student in Derry, NH is in hot water with the FAA, over an alleged aerial stunt earlier this week.

Police say the unnamed high school senior buzzed the Pinkerton Academy Tuesday morning, flying as low as 250 feet above the ground as he circled the campus.

Students thought it was a stunt... or maybe a student prank, as it is that time of year. The FAA wasn't laughing, though... and after tracing the flight back to an airport in nearby Lawrence, officials with that agency had a few questions for the aerial exhibitionist.

The FAA later released the boy, but he still faces a meeting with school officials over the incident.

However, the boy's father maintains the student did nothing wrong... that he was flying at 1,000 feet AGL, as the regs require... and what's more, controllers in Manchester gave the boy permission to fly around the campus.

The student's father says once the FAA hears the tapes from ATC, his son will be cleared of any wrongdoing.
