Superior Air Parts Hires William Blackwood As Production Manager

Comes From ECi, Teledyne Continental

Representatives with Superior Air Parts told Aero-News Monday piston engine industry veteran William C. (Bill) Blackwood has been hired as the company’s new Production Manager.

"With the unparalleled growth we have enjoyed in our XP-Series and Vantage Engine product lines, we have been looking for someone like Bill to help take us to the next production level," said Timothy T. Archer, President and CEO, Superior Air Parts. "His wealth of knowledge and experience in all of the various aspects of quality control along with piston engine production and maintenance will be a tremendous benefit to both our team here at Superior and our customers around the world."

In his new position, Blackwood will be responsible for Superior’s Engine Build Facility in which the XP-Series and Vantage engines and their sub-assemblies are produced.

Before joining Superior, Blackwood was the Director of Quality/Quality Assurance Manager for Engine Components, Inc. Prior to that, he was Director of International and Domestic Field Service for Teledyne Continental Motors (TCM). Prior to that, Blackwood owned an FAA Airframe and Powerplant Repair Station in Auburn, WA for 25 years.

"I started using Superior’s PMA parts in 1973 when I opened my airframe and engine maintenance shop," Blackwood said. "They delivered the best combination of performance, quality and value then and they’re even better now. I’m very excited to be joining the true leader in PMA parts development and piston engine innovation."

Blackwood holds an FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate with an Inspection Authorization. He is also a commercial pilot with instrument rating and currently owns a Cessna 182 and Cessna 195.
