Couple OK After Ice Chunk Falls On Home

Attack Of The Blue Ice

Just in time for Halloween... we have another apparent Blue Ice attack, this one in California. Last week, a chunk of ice fell down from the sky, and onto the roof of an elderly couple's home in Chino.

Fortunately, William McElroy and his wife Evelyn were in another room when the ice came smashing down, and destroyed their bedroom.

"It was a huge crash," William McElroy told the Ontario Daily Bulletin. "It shook the whole building but we thought it was a car."

They walked outside to investigate the loud noise... but did not discover the gaping hole in their roof until the following morning.

The two suspect the ice fell from a passing airliner... a possibility FAA spokesman Ian McGregor acknowledged was likely. Trouble is, it's difficult, though not impossible, to trace which aircraft the offending chunk of waste water came from.

Officials are now attempting to determine what planes flew over the McElroy's home at the time of the incident... and they'll then check those planes for leaky lavatory plumbing.

If the offending aircraft is found, that airline could be held responsible for repairing the roof... but for now, the couple's homeowners insurance will have to foot the bill.
