Installing The Glass In East Alton

Premier Air Center Signs Falcon 50 Avionics Upgrade Deal

Premier Air Center in East Alton, IL, has signed two Falcon 50 operators for the installation of Universal Avionics EFI-890R flight display packages. The first aircraft will input to the East Alton facility July 1, 2005 followed in September by the second aircraft.

Premier Air Center Inc. has entered into an agreement with Universal Avionics Systems Corporation, of Tucson, Arizona, to certify their Vision-1 synthetic vision system with the "egocentric" view on the EFI-890R primary flight display.

Premier Air Center Inc. was the first completion center to certify Universal's Vision-1 system with the "exocentric" view on a part 25 (Falcon 20 program) aircraft.

The Universal EFI-890R display offers a unique and extremely versatile retrofit package that is scalable to the customers needs. Much of the EFI-890R's installation savings and flexibility comes from its unique ability to interface with many of the "legacy" avionics, such as the autopilot and radar systems currently installed in the Falcon 50 aircraft.

In addition to the EFI-890R displays, the Falcon 50 package will include installation of the following:

  • A Universal Avionics Class "A" TAWS system
  • Dual Universal Avionics Vision-1 synthetic vision systems
  • Dual Universal Avionics cockpit display computers (maps and charts will be displayed on the ND displays)
  • Dual Universal Avionics UNS-1F Flight Management Systems
  • Dual Universal Avionics Radio Control Units
  • Dual Rockwell Collins AHS-3000A AHRS systems
  • Honeywell Avionics Primus 880 radar system with dual controls
  • L3 Communications GH-3000 standby gyro systems
  • Dual Baker M1045 audio panels

The installation will be broken down into six (6) Supplemental Type Certificates (STC's).

The downtime for this upgrade is estimated to be between ten and sixteen weeks, depending on the options elected and other work to be completed at the same time. Premier Air Center Inc. offers complete interior, paint and maintenance support in addition to its avionics program.

The estimated price for this package ranges from $600,000 to $1.5 million, depending on options selected.

Both the Falcon 50 and Falcon 20 EFI-890R equipped aircraft, completed by Premier Air Center Inc., will be on static display at NBAA 2005 in New Orleans.

In addition to the Falcon 20/200, Falcon 50 and Cessna Citation 650 Premier Air Center Inc. and Universal Avionics Systems Corporation are finalizing the installation details for the EFI-890R package into several other airframes.
