New Engine Instruments For AS250B2 Prepped For Release

Digital Instruments Support Honeywell LTS-101

A new digital engine instrument option is being prepared for release by Soloy Aviation Solutions, along with Ultra Electronics Flightline Systems. The instruments are designed for Soloy's Honeywell LTS-101 engine conversion kit for Eurocopter AS350B2 helicopters.

The new electronic engine instrument display will replace the VEMD unit in late model B2's and the analog indicators used in older models. The large TSO'd 6"x9" two screen display easily fits within the customized panel and gives the pilot a well laid out presentation of engine and flight status parameters. Two fully redundant display screens include dimming and brightness functions to ensure optimum lighting day or night.

The instrument will feature full data download capability.

Soloy teamed with Ultra Electronics Flightline Systems to customize their AuRACLE product line specifically for the Eurocopter AS350B2. After considerable research and due diligence, Dave Stauffer Soloy's CEO, determined Flightline Systems had the right combination of turbine experience, a burgeoning glass panel product line, and was the right company to bring this product to market. "Soloy saw a real need to replace and simplify a multitude of old engine instruments we were working with while converting AS350B2's to our LTS-101 Honeywell engine platform. Ultra has a leading position in fixed and rotary wing engine instrumentation and our Soloy team knew the quality of Ultra's engineering and hardware would make them the best fit for our program." Mr. Stauffer also sees greater product support for the operator. "We are replacing several instruments made by multiple companies and combining them into one instrument supported by a single US based company, Soloy."

Certification efforts are currently underway and Soloy anticipates their new instrument will be available in the third quarter of 2011.

Installation of the new instrument during an LTS-101 conversion will not add additional time to the engine conversion project. If however, existing LTS-101 converted aircraft wish to add the new instrument, Soloy forecasts aircraft downtime will not exceed one week. The kit price is targeted to be $25,000, with final pricing available soon.
