Will Be Certified To Level D Following Final Data Package From
Boeing
A Full Flight Simulator (FFS) that will be used to train
Continental Airlines' Boeing's 787 Dreamliner pilots has been
certified by the FAA. CAE, which built the FSS, announced the
certification Tuesday. Continental pilots have begun training on
the device, located at the airline's training facility in Houston,
TX. The CAE 7000 Series full-flight simulator will be certified to
Level D following receipt of the final aircraft data package from
Boeing.
"This program reaffirms CAE's leadership in meeting the
challenge of developing world-standard simulators for new aircraft
types," said Jeff Roberts, CAE's Group President, Civil Simulation
Products, Training and Services. "The Continental and CAE teams
deserve the highest praise for this milestone achievement. CAE's
suite of training equipment for Boeing 787 pilots and maintenance
technicians is a long-term collaborative effort between customers,
the OEM and CAE engineers, all focused on achieving maximum
operational efficiency and safety."
CAE has been selected for seven Dreamliner full-flight simulator
contracts awarded by airlines to date. In addition to Continental,
CAE is providing Boeing 787 FFSs and other training equipment to
Air New Zealand, British Airways, Japan Airlines (two) and Qantas
(two).
CAE provides a range of integrated simulation-based training
solutions for Boeing 787 operators, including CAE Simfinity
integrated procedures trainers (IPT) for flight and maintenance
training, three types of flight training devices (FTDs) - Level 5
FTD, Level 4-plus FTD with Extended Product Package, and Level 4
FTD - and desktop virtual simulators (VSIM) and virtual maintenance
trainers (VMT).
