Maintenance Tracking Provider Adds Helicopter-Specific
Features
Maintenance tracking program provider Avtrak says it has added
new system features exclusively for the helicopter industry to
address low cycle fatigue concerns and the new OEM requirements
associated with these issues.
Avtrak developed the new features based on demand from their
existing customers, many of whom use helicopters for off-shore, law
enforcement and medical operations. As a result of the low
cycle fatigue issues discovered in recent years, helicopter
manufacturers reacted by implementing new tracking requirements
that involve complex formulas to account for flight cycles
occurring without an engine shut-down. While the move was
necessary to avoid unplanned engine and rotor failures, the new
requirements and formulas were complex and made maintenance
tracking difficult for helicopter operators.
Avtrak’s GlobalNet system now has the capability to
calculate “alternate cycle tracking” data using
customized flight log interfaces. The system incorporates
formulas unique for each make and model of helicopter and are kept
up-to-date through Avtrak’s propriety algorithms and master
data sheets used within the system. Avtrak released the new
system to several key customers earlier this year and is now
offering the new system to the entire helicopter market.
“We strive to stay in touch with our customers and
understand their needs,” said Joe Hertzler, CEO and
Co-Founder of Avtrak. “This is a perfect example of how we
listen to our customers and develop solutions for their specific
needs.”
"Aircraft maintenance and maintaining compliance in the
helicopter business is very different than the fixed-wing market,"
added Mike Keeling, Avtrak’s Denver Area Manager. "These
challenges are unique to the helicopter world and we are fortunate
at Avtrak to have seasoned professionals who understand the needs
of our helicopter customers. We strive to stay ahead of regulatory
and OEM changes in this industry in an effort to provide our
customers with the very best maintenance compliance
services.”
