CubCrafters Celebrates First Customer Sport Cub Deliveries

An Event Spanning The Nation

They're probably still popping champagne corks in Yakima, WA... as CubCrafters celebrated a major milestone Wednesday. In fact, it was a bicoastal affair.

The culmination of over three years of effort in design, testing, prototyping and finally building an all-new airplane for the Light Sport Category was reached with two separate delivery celebrations for the first customer CC11-100 Sport Cub airplanes: one from the company's Yakima headquarters, the other from Andover Flight Academy in Andover, NJ.

"What a great day for our customers, our employees, and the entire CubCrafters family," said CubCrafters President Jim Richmond. "We say "thank you" to all of those who worked and waited with us so patiently while we completely re-designed the airplane that inspired the new category."

Customers Ron Ward of Juneau, AK (above) and Mr. Michael Davis of Brooklyn, NY (below) took delivery of their new Sport Cubs in simultaneous celebrations in Yakima and Andover.

"Congratulations Ron, Michael, and to everyone that has played a role in reaching this momentous occasion," said Richmond.

The Sport Cub production and delivery rate is now scheduled to accelerate to one per week over the next four to six weeks -- and on to two per week near the turn of the year.

Founded in 1980 by current owner and CEO Jim Richmond, and located at Yakima Air Terminal/McAllister Field Airport (YKM) in Yakima, WA, CubCrafters offers two all new, FAA-certified, ready to fly, category-leading aircraft: Sport Cub, a redesign of the classic airplane that inspired the light sport category; and the highly capable Top Cub two-place personal and utility aircraft.
