P&W Canada Gets Transport Canada Cert For PW610F

Engine Powers The Eclipse 500 VLJ

ANN REALTIME REPORTING 07.28.06 1130 EDT: Providing yet another strong hint that Eclipse Aviation may be announcing some VERY good news later today... Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. (P&WC) announced Thursday it has received Transport Canada Type Certification for its new PW610F engine, set to power the Eclipse 500 very light jet.

"This is terrific news for both Pratt & Whitney Canada and Eclipse Aviation," said Andrew Tanner, vice-president, Business Aviation, P&WC. "We are well advanced with ramping up PW610F engine production at our new state-of-the-art PW600 facility in Longueuil, Quebec."

The PW610F engine, rated at 900 lbs. thrust is part of the P&WC's new PW600 engine family, which offers a step change in performance, cost and durability. Designed with an approximately 50-percent-reduction in parts count, the PW610F incorporates the latest technologies while offering optimum value to operators.

The engine also features a dual-channel Full Authority Digital Electronic Control (FADEC), which offers operational advantages over traditional control systems by reducing pilot workload. The dual-channel FADEC also provides enhanced reliability, reduced weight, and ease of operation.
