Aircraft Sold, Delivered To Turkey, India, And Brazil
Three announcements
from European helicopter manufacturer Eurocopter from Paris
Wednesday. The company says it will deliver new EC135
helicopters to the Turkish operator Koçoðlu Aviation,
who has ordered a total of 12 helicopters. Koçoðlu
Aviation has been operating six aircraft since November 2008, and
the remaining new aircraft will be delivered in August 2009. The
helicopters will perform emergency medical services to and from
hospitals equipped with helicopter landing facilities.
The Turkish operator ordered 12 aircraft in 2008: Ten of the
helicopters are EC135s with the last two being an EC145 and an
EC155 operated on lease.
The helicopters were ordered for the Turkish government’s
Emergency Helicopter Medical Service (EHMS) project. In less than a
year, Koçoðlu Aviation has invested nearly $139 million
to meet the needs of the Turkish Health Ministry as part of a
five-year renewable contract.
Eurocopter has also signed a contract worth nearly $10 million
for three AS350 B3 Ecureuils with Pawan Hans, India's leading
helicopter operator in the civil and parapublic market. Pawan Hans
plans to operate it for variety of missions ranging from tourism,
medical evacuation to surveillance operations.
Pawan Hans currently operates 27 Dauphin helicopters.
"We are delighted to continue our extremely successful
partnership with Pawan Hans," declared Norbert Ducrot, Eurocopter
Senior Vice-President for Sales and Customer Relations in
Asia-Pacific. "This is an important contract for us as this is the
first time Pawan Hans will be operating a single-engine Eurocopter
helicopters. This contract proves once again that Eurocopter
products are perfectly adapted to the Indian market."
On the business aviation side of the ledger, Eurocopter
subsidiary Helibras will deliver the very first EC145 Stylence in
Brazil to a customer in the country. The new aircraft will
transport VIP passengers between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. The
two cities are 350 km apart.
Business aviation has significantly developed over recent years
and now makes up 20% of Eurocopter’s total sales. Eurocopter
sold 150 business helicopters last year and remains the
World’s No. 1 Business Aviation helicopter manufacturer.
