Superjet 100 Cleared For Noise Testing Certification Flights

Seeking Parallel Certification From AR IAC, EASA

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 has been cleared by AR IAC and EASA for noise program certification flights following completion of five validation flights.

During the certification flights, telemetry equipment interfaced with on-board aircraft testing instrumentation will show noise-relevant flight parameters, including the aircraft trajectory, in real-time to flight test specialists at Alenia Aeronautica Control Room in Torino Caselle airport. Following the flights, the data will be analyzed on site to provide quick assessment of the aircraft's noise characteristics. Both on-ground and in-flight measurements will also be taken during tests, the latter by using an helicopter equipped by a special probe.

Prior to the clearance, AR IAC and EASA verified the aircraft configuration, reference trajectories for noise certification, flight test procedures, flight and ground test instrumentation and calibration status. Over the course of the AR IAC-EASA parallel certification, EASA experts have already taken part in the "high angles of attack" program, airstairs ejection and hydraulic system pressurization checks.

"Noise and HIRF testing, conducted in Italy is not just a program which tests certain aircraft parameters, it's an essential part of a big effort of AR IAC and EASA in harmonization of the certification standards of Russia, CIS and Europe," said Igor Vinogradov, SCAC's SVP on Certification. "This job is made possible owing to Sukhoi Superjet 100 Program, as SSJ100 is the pioneering aircraft which is designated for the both Russian and world market and has to meet the international certification norms."
