Last Challenger 604 Business Jet Rolls Off Assembly Line

Bombardier Marks End Of An Era

Aero-News learned Wednesday the last Bombardier Challenger 604 business jet, serial number 5665, rolled off the assembly line this week at Bombardier's Montreal-Trudeau International Airport facility. The green aircraft will be completed by Midcoast Aviation, and is scheduled to enter customer service in spring 2007.

The occasion marks the conclusion of a long and prosperous run for one of business aviation's most popular aircraft designs, which was launched at the Paris Air Show in 1993.

A total of 365 Challenger 604 business jets have now been manufactured for leading corporations, governments, and charter and private operators around the world, making it the best selling jet in its class.

Representatives with Bombardier say the legacy of the Challenger series will continue with the new Challenger 605 jet, which was launched at the National Business Aviation Association conference in November 2005 and now completing flight tests at the Bombardier Flight Test Center in Wichita, KS.

Transport Canada certification is expected shortly, and first delivery is on schedule for the third quarter of 2007.
