EP-1000CT's slated for A310 sim in Berlin, CAE A380 sim in
Australia
Evans & Sutherland
Computer Corp. has announced that Lufthansa Flight Training (LFT)
has purchased an EP-1000CT visual system for the upgrade of its
A310 full flight simulator in Berlin. This installation marks the
13th EP system purchased by LFT since the product's introduction
last year. The new system includes an EP-1000CT image generator and
three ESCP-2000 projectors, and will replace an existing SPX-550HT
image generator and projectors. Installation and certification are
scheduled to be completed during Q1 of 2005.
E&S has also been awarded a subcontract by CAE Inc. of
Montreal to provide its EP(TM)-1000CT/ESCP(R)-2000 visual system
for the A380 full-flight simulator being manufactured by CAE for
Australia's Qantas Airways.
Five full flight
simulators at LFT's Berlin training center are being equipped with
EP-1000CT systems. Two simulators, the B737-300 and A320, have
already received Joint Aviation Authority (JAA) Level D
certification. LFT has also purchased EP-1000CT systems to upgrade
its A340 and B737-800 simulators.
"LFT leads the way in providing outstanding training value,"
said E&S Commercial Simulation Managing Director David Rushton.
"We look forward to continuing to support their commitment to
offering the highest quality training with EP-1000CT."
On the contract for the
Qantas simulator, Rushton commented that "We are very much looking
forward to working with CAE on this program. This prestigious
Qantas program enables us to further enhance our relationship with
CAE and to provide a superb training device for Qantas."
With more than 40 systems sold to airlines around the world,
EP-1000CT has initiated a new era in visual realism for commercial
aviation training. At the top of E&S' Environment Processor
product line, EP-1000CT is designed specifically to meet the
exacting requirements for FAA/JAA Level D (and equivalent) flight
training. Unique training features include a whole-earth database,
detailed airport scenes, complex terrain, advanced weather effects,
and E&S' Continuous Texture(TM) (CT), which provides a
seamless, high-resolution, textured 3D worldwide training
environment.
