FAA Issues STCs To Concorde Battery For Phenom 100, ATR42/72

Replacements For OEM Lead Acid Batteries

The FAA has issued STCs to Concorde Battery for installations in both the Phenom 100 and ATR 42 / 72 series aircraft.

FAA STC SA01633WI (Brazil ANAC No. 2012S04-08) covers the Phenom 100 (EMB-500) and installation of the reliable RG-390E battery. SA01633WI replaces both of the OE lead acid batteries with two of Concorde’s popular RG-390E (pictured), 28 AH sealed lead acid, Recombinant Gas (RG), Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) batteries.

Concorde’s design features proprietary PolyGuard separators (an additional layer of protection against shorting, exclusive to Concorde) robust plate construction, over the cell wall intercell connections for reduced internal resistance and a commitment to quality standards. Concorde batteries have been proven reliable, durable and safe for over 30 years.

RG-390E is a plug in replacement for the OE lead acid. No modification to the aircraft is required.

STC ST03930AT allows for the replacement of the nickel-cadmium main battery in the ATR 42/72 series aircraft with Concorde’s RG-380E/44 and the nickel-cadmium emergency battery with Concorde’s RG-42. EASA approval (ESTC 10038867) and Transport Canada Approval (5010-0-11-0676) have also been received.

RG-380E (pictured)/44 and RG-42 for ATR 42/ATR 72 Series aircraft are plug in replacements for the OE nickel-cadmium batteries. No modification to the aircraft is required. Concorde’s RG-380E/44 (OE on many corporate aircraft) and RG-42 are both TSO approved and as such have passed rigorous TSO C-173 testing for duty
cycle, electrical performance, temperature extremes, shock/vibration and environmental requirements.

Concorde batteries do not require deep cycling to remove the “memory effects” seen in nickel-cadmium batteries, do not require water or electrolyte replenishment and have no risk of thermal runaway. With the benefit of RG Series batteries shipping Hazmat Exempt, transportation is less costly regardless of whether shipping by land, sea or air.
