Simcom Adds Training Programs For Falcon 20, Westwind, King Air

All Programs Will Be Offered At Orlando, Florida Facility

SimCom Training Centers has added Falcon 20 and Westwind training programs to its portfolio of services. To support these programs, SimCom has acquired two Level C, full-flight simulators from CAE. Both simulators will be located at SimCom's Parksouth facility in Orlando, Florida, and should be operational by December 1, 2009. SimCom will be installing updated visual systems in both sims, and following re-entry to service, both will be outfitted with new Instructor Operating Stations. A comprehensive set of courses will be offered to meet specific needs ranging from Type Ratings, Upgrade, Second-In-Command and Recurrent training.

The Falcon 20 sim is capable of representing two different platforms. One configuration displays the Sperry SPZ-500 flight director system and autopilot. The other set presents the Collins FD-109 and Collins AP-105. Both configurations include the UNS 1F FMS, Honeywell Mark VII EGPWS and TCAS II. Two different engine models are also available -- the GE CF700-2D-2 with Aeronca CF700 thrust reversers and the Garrett TFE 731-5BR-2C with Dee-Howard TR5020 thrust reversers. The Westwind II sim is equipped with the Collins FDS-85 and Collins APS-80. Flight management, terrain and collision avoidance is provided with the UNS 1F FMS, Honeywell Mark VII EGPWS and TCAS II. The engine model represents the Garrett TFE 731-3-1G with Grumman thrust reversers.

In a related development, the company announced the installation of a King Air 350 Pro Line 21 Flight Training Device (FTD) at its Orlando, Florida training center. The high fidelity FTD was built by SimCom, and will be available for training winter 2009. Courses to be offered include Type Ratings, Initial and Recurrent training.
 
The device is equipped with the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite. Two large liquid crystal primary flight displays and an 8"x10" multi-function display present the operator with essential flight information. Flight management and automation is provided through the FMS-3000, Global Positioning System (GPS) and autopilot. Radio control is conveniently managed through a remote tuning unit.

The King Air 350's visual system utilizes a Redifun RSI RASTERflite XT image generator with a 172-degree field-of-view. This advanced 60-Hz visual system offers day/dawn/dusk/night or continuous time of day operation. The enhanced visual imagery is equivalent to that used on FAA Level D full-flight simulators used by business jet operators and commercial airlines. Select airports have been incorporated to include highly detailed features that accurately represent the operating area, providing pilots with a realistic visual environment, while Denver and Aspen,CO airports are included to simulate flight in challenging mountainous environments.

Other visual upgrades include weather features such as dynamic thunderstorms with rain shafts, ragged ceilings, blowing snow, patchy fog and scud. Converging traffic on the ground and while airborne offers operators the opportunity to train for conflict recognition and avoidance.
